Stig Johansson joined the World Bank in 2012 as a Forestry Specialist, and has recently been appointed program manager for the Wealth Accounting and Valuation of Ecosystem Services (WAVES) global partnership. His professional journey to the World Bank includes supporting forest owners in Finland, forestry and irrigation in Kenya, advancing conservation in the Usambara Mountains in Tanzania, promoting community forestry in Namibia and working for the government as Regional Director for Parks and Wildlife, Finland.
Botswana’s water accounting unit learned new techniques to improve data collection and reduce analysis and turnaround time for water accounts.
Botswana’s water accounting unit is better prepared to produce regularly-released water accounts using improved techniques for data collection and analysis following a week-long training organized by the Wealth Accounting and Valuation of Ecosystem Services (WAVES) Partnership.
The training workshop, held July 22-30, 2015, in Gaborone, was attended by 12 participants from the Department of Water Affairs and Statistics Botswana. The water accounts technical working group also includes members from the Ministry of Agriculture and Department of Mines.
