Maryland's Genuine Progress Indicator: Services from Natural Capital
Under the U.S. State of Maryland's Department of Natural Resources, the Genuine Progress Indicator provides citizens and policymakers insight into how our environment, society, and economy affect the well-being of people. In terms of ecosystem services, benefits from forests, wetlands, and the Chesapeake Bay are considered, such as provision of clean water and air, avoidance or erosion, habitat value for fish and wildlife and the value of the fish and game harvest from the wild.
