This study is part of the Phil-WAVES project of PSA, which aims to conduct valuation surveys and data collection to facilitate the preparation of costs and returns of recreational services, fisheries, mangrove and mangrove-related products, and value and type of residential and non-residential units.
This study aims to account for the ecosystem services provided by the Pagbilao mangrove forest. It covers three major areas: a) mangrove characterization, which includes inventory of flora and fauna; b) estimation of carbon storage, both in the mangroves biomass and the sediments; and c) estimation of sedimentation rate in Pagbilao mangrove forest.
This policy brief presents the findings of a recent study to understand two important aspects of forest ecosystems: How forest ecosystems help enhance people’s resilience to climate impacts, and How forest ecosystems support livelihood development for the poor.
