A new reoprt detailing information on land use in Rwanda was launched in Kigali.
Data previously used to register land ownership is now being used to track changes in land use and provide information for development planning.
The ministry of Natural Resources has announced that it will soon release the final results from studies on the contribution of natural resources to National GDP.
Rwanda presented the first results of its Natural Capital Accounting process during a national workshop in Kigali.
Natural capital accounting can add value in Rwanda’s national development planning process, said Minister for Natural Resources, Dr Vincent Biruta.
The accounts will provide information on the social and environmental costs of mining and how mineral resources contribute to the economy.
NCA Advisor, Portia Segomelo, recently visited Kigali to facilitate Rwanda’s NCA process by sharing Botswana’s experience in developing water and mineral accounts.
