In Indonesia, the implementation of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounts (SEEA) has been undertaken since 1997 by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), with the annual publication of the SISNERLING - the Integrated Environment and Economic Accounts. This report is continuously being improved to provide a better framework for strengthening the preparation and calculation of integrated environmental and economic accounts.

As part of this process, a national seminar supported by WAVES was held on 30 November 2017 to discuss action plans for advancing the SEEA. This occasion brought together decision-makers and representatives from the Ministry of Development Planning, the Geospatial Information Agency, the Peatland Agency, the Land Agency, the Ministry of Finance, and other line ministries. In addition to WAVES, a number of other international partners have also supported the implementation of the SEEA in Indonesia, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

The seminar was held in parallel with a workshop led by UNSD.
