This report comes out of the Workshop on Regional Perspectives on Natural Capital Accounting held in Nairobi, Kenya in June 2016, which brought together delegations from twelve countries and many agencies working on Natural Capital Accounting. The workshop was undertaken in the context of the Gabarone Declaration for Sustainability in Africa (GDSA) which commits signatory countries to incorporating the value of natural capital in public and private policies and decision-making.The workshop provided a platform to build additional momentum for NCA in both GDSA and non-GDSA countries in the region, recognising that there is increasing impetus for this work as governments understand the importance of incorporating nature-based solutions in their pursuit of sustainable economic development.
