This publication is intended to provide an overview of the impact of development on the availability and role of natural resources in economic activity. It contains a review of land cover and land use on the islands of Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and Papua, and calculation of the depletion rate of several commodities summarized in the physical and monetary balance sheet.
